AROUND THE CORNER

“Around the Corner” is an interactive artwork that changes appearance as the viewer moves around it. The project uses a moiré effect which is a visual perception that occurs when viewing a set of lines or dots that is superimposed on another set of lines or dots, where the sets differ in relative size, angle, or spacing.

The work consists of 14 colourful panels arranged inside a new buildings corner void. As you approach and pass the building, it looks as if the patterns on the panels are changing shape. The back of each panel consists of LED lights and a diffuser that makes the work glow in both day and night.

The title of the work refers to both the location of the work as well as the common saying “around the corner” that represents something new and exciting being on the horizon.
