Traditionally, lighthouses were constructed to withstand all weather conditions and provide guidance, welcoming those at sea towards land. As Coventry sits near the centre of the UK, this lighthouse, rather, guides and welcomes those to the city and to experience the artworks as part of The Show Windows programme.

Often the glow of a lighthouse was a person's first encounter with a new place and might represent the beginning of a new era. We welcome, through this Lighthouse, a new year with the hope and strength of new beginnings. This Lighthouse shines a light on Coventry’s future and it’s continued growth after it’s UK City of Culture year.
